Tagtastic!

prayer-tags_M

It’s taken a while, but every single bio for our authors, artists, editors, photographers, advocates, performers, comedians, publishers, book cover designers and…well… everyone should now be up on the website. We had a few issues with tags and categories meaning some authors and editors weren’t showing up in the right menus (or at all) or weren’t all in the same tag groups, so we’ve spent some time getting that right. Hopefully everything’s been caught, but if not, please let us know so we can investigate and fix things!

It’s a week and a half to Queermance, and the Anthology is about to be finalised. Things have been a bit tight on that front on account of us extending the submission deadline so expect it to be first cab off the ranks for 2016. There’s also been a lot of change in the festival this year with new technical systems needing to be broken in and well…okay, reasons.

Still, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and hope you all come along and have a great time. We’re closing off festival pass and Afternoon Tea ticket sales on Sunday the 12th, so you only have four days to get in on those–so if you want to meet our amazing authors or get some tips directly from our publishers, get your ticket now.

And in case you’re wondering what’s going to happen at our Queerbaret, check out the RMIT Occasional Choral Society performing Life is Better in the Country at last year’s event.

More Events? Sure

Q Tile

So if you’ve been paying attention to our program page, you’ll have noticed we’ve been switching around panels, as well as playing with times as we try to organise the best possible line up of events for you. We’re very excited that were able to bring back both of last year’s stand out evening events–the Queermance Anthology Launch and the Queerbaret, but we’re also very pleased to be bringing you an Author Showcase of some of the biggest local and interstate authors at Queermance 2015, including a very special international guest. Who is it? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see!

We’re also bringing you a fifth panel, which we weren’t expecting, and we’re going to be celebrating some of the amazing art that we use to support our stories, whether that’s digital art, painted media, or amazing photography. We’ll be bringing you a selection of the amazing work in our community soon, and there may be the chance to walk away with a print or two.

Given our late morning start, we’ll be providing two meals rather than three — lunch and afternoon tea–and turning the afternoon teas into social events where you’ll be able to come and meet the Queermance Authors and an even bigger range of publishers than we had last year. We’ve currently confirmed Clan Destine Press, Dreamspinner Press, MidnightSun Publishing, Firebrand Publishing and EXtasy Books and we’re in discussion with a few other publishers about having a presence at Queermance this year.

And no, we’re not increasing our ticket price. So if you’d like to get a festival pass, day pass, or book yourself in to just the Meet the Authors or Meet the Publishers Afternoon Tea, book in before we sell out. We’ll be releasing single session tickets to our panels and workshops shortly, so stay tuned for more info.
