Get Your ROCS Off!

On Saturday evening, over 70 people packed into The Hare Hole for a night of impeccably questionable taste – partially curated by Queermance Co-Director Matthew Lang.

“I’m responsible for about half of the music tonight,” Matthew said in his opening remarks. “So if you’re offended at any point, please blame [President of ROCS] Geordie.”

The audience was treated to songs from Frozen, Portal and A New Brain amongst others, as well as a stripped back version of Call Me Maybe and original works by indie artist Sandra Bogerd, who launched her third album On the Rocks with a mixture of old, new and brand new music, including Not Completely Straight, written especially for the night.

Some very lucky people walked away with some amazing items from our sponsors, including a $300 corset from Frou Frou & Flounces, a $150 hair cut and treatment from Andy R. Salon, two original pieces of artwork by Raven Schofield of Raven Art, and a two hour one on one masterclass with writer, performer and dramaturge Karen Corbett of Karen Corbett EFT.

The night was a great success, with nearly $600 each raised for Queermance and ROCS, which will go towards Queermance 2015 and the ROCS 2015 concert series.

Thank you to everyone who made the night a success, including H A Stanley Events, Nat’s Vegan Cupcakes, RMIT Link Arts and Culture, Hares and Hyenas, our life saving accompanist Mr Simon D’Aquino, Theo Kipen for our poster, Bodie Strain for photography and Isabelle Rowan for front of house, flyer design and video. Last but not least a big thanks to ROCS for collaborating with the team at Queermance – you are all amazingly talented and we hope to do it all again someday.

Until we have video edited and uploaded, please enjoy some of the images taken on the night!
